POST OF EXAM :Sub-Inspector in the Subordinate Food & Supplies Service, Grade-III, under Food & Supplies Department, Govt. of West Bengal.

  The Competitive Examination for the Post of Sub-Inspector in the Food & Supplies Service, Grade-III, under the Food & Supplies Department, Government of West Bengal, will be held by the Public Service Commission of West Bengal in 2022. Based on the results, candidates will be hired for the Sub-Inspector positions in the Subordinate Food & Supplies Service, Grade-III, under the Government of West Bengal. The next paragraphs contain information about the examination’s rules as well as other specifics. A candidate should confirm whether they are eligible to take the exam by consulting the published guidelines. It is not possible to ease the required circumstances.

The Public Service Commission of West Bengal will conduct a personality test after the Written Examination (MCQ type), which would determine the candidates. The qualifying marks for the Written Examination, the Personality Test, and the aggregate will be determined at the discretion of the Public Service Commission of West Bengal. Only those who make the short list based on their performance on the written exam (objective multiple choice questions) will be invited to the personality test. The final merit list will be created using the combined scores from the written exam and personality test. At first, all appointments will be made on a temporary basis.

The written exam(Sub-Inspector in the Food & Supplies Service) will be administered in a number of locations throughout Kolkata and a few other West Bengal districts. The only candidates permitted to appear in the DARJEELING center are the scheduled tribal candidates of the Darjeeling district and the other candidates from the three hill sub-divisions: Kurseong, Mirik, and Darjeeling Sadar. Likewise, all applicants from the Kalimpong district are permitted to show up at the KALIMPON center. The Public Service Commission, West Bengal, office in Kolkata will host the personality test.

CATEGORYWISE QUALIFYING MARKS:

The Commission has fixed the following category wise qualifying marks in aggregate. The aggregate marks will be comprised of the marks obtained in Written Examination and Personality Test taken together.

      •  UR                                                  40%
      • OBC (A & B)                                   38%
      • SC                                                   35%
      • ST                                                   30%
      • PwBD                                             30%
      • Ex-Servicemen                              30%
      • Meritorious Sports Person          40%

 

The Commission will, however, have the liberty of further relaxing qualifying marks, if sizeable nos. of posts in Reserved Categories remains unfilled.

SCHEME AND SYLLABUS Scheme of Examination for Sub-Inspector in the Food & Supplies Service 

A. Written Examination:

The Examination will consist of only one paper on –

(i)General Studies (ii) Arithmetic

        • Total Marks – 100 (50 marks each).
        • Duration of examination will be 1½ hours.

The examination will be held on multiple choice objective type questions.

B.Personality Test:

Full Marks – 20

A limited number of candidates selected merit wise on the results of written examination will be called to appear at the personality test.

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in the written examination and the marks obtained in the personality test.

The Commission, shall have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in the written examination, the personality test and also in the aggregate.

Syllabus of the Written Examination: (Sub-Inspector in the Food & Supplies Service)

  • General Studies (Matters of common experience including every day science, current events and problems with special reference to India, elementary knowledge of Indian History and Indian Geography).
  • Arithmetic (Questions will be set on the basis of the syllabus of Madhyamik Examination of the W.B.B.S.E. with mental ability).
  • Assessment and evaluation of answer scripts done by the Commission shall be final.

RESULTS OF THE EXAMINATION for the post of Sub-Inspector in the Food & Supplies Service

The names of the candidates called to Personality Test in the exam of Sub-Inspector in the Food & Supplies Service and those recommended for appointment will be published provisionally subject to determination of eligibility of the candidates in all respects and verification of original certificates etc. If at any stage of such verification any candidate is found ineligible, his / her candidature / allotment will be cancelled. Final Merit List will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in the Written Examination and marks obtained in the Personality Test.

CAUTION for Candidate Please read it Carefully before appearing in the Exam of Sub-Inspector in the Food & Supplies Service

  1. Candidates are advised to read thoroughly and cautiously the “Advertisement” and “Scheme & Syllabus”.
  2. The candidates must abide by the instructions as may be given by Supervisors / Invigilators of the Examination. If the candidate fails to do so or indulges in disorderly or improper conduct, he / she will render himself / herself liable to expulsion from the Examination Hall and / or such other punishment as the Commission may deem fit to impose.
  3. A candidate who has been reported against by the Supervisor of the Examination Centre for violating any of the instructions will be punished with cancellation of candidature for the examination related to this advertisement and also debarment from future examinations and selections as may be decided by the Commission according to the circumstances of the case.
  4. If at any stage even after issue of the letter of appointment, a candidate is found ineligible in terms of advertisement his / her candidature will be cancelled without further reference to him / her.
  5. The conditions prescribed cannot be relaxed in any case other than those mentioned in this Advertisement. vi. A candidate should note that his / her admission to the examination will be deemed provisional subject to determination of his / her eligibility in all respects. If at any stage after issue of Admit Card a candidate is found ineligible for admission for this examination, his / her candidature will be cancelled without further reference to him / her. No candidate shall be allowed to take the examination unless he / she holds a valid Admit Card.
  6. The public service commission, West Bengal, shall have discretion to fix qualifying marks in written examination, personality test and in the aggregate.
  7. Mobile Phones, Smart Watches, Bluetooth or any other communication device are not allowed inside the premises where the examination is being conducted. Any infringement of this instruction shall entail disciplinary action including ban from the examination related to this advertisement as well as from future examinations.
  8. There will be arrangements for frisking of the candidates at entry points of venues– separately for male and female candidates so that candidates with mobile phones or any other gadget of communication may not enter the venue.
  9. Candidates allotted in a particular venue will in no case be admitted to a venue other than that indicated in the admit card issued by the commission.
  10. Applications once submitted shall be treated as final (after closing date for online submission of application). No request for change in application form and no claim for being a member of the SC/ST /OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) or a Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) or a Meritorious Sportsperson will be entertained after submission of the application.
